Purpose of CEUs
Purpose of CEUs
The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) was created to provide a standard unit of measure, to quantify continuing adult education and training activities, and to provide a permanent record of the educational accomplishments of an individual who has completed one or more significant non-credit educational experiences.
CEUs are typically used to supply an employer or prospective employer with information about continuing education and training experiences and to provide documentation to registration boards, certification boards, or professional organizations.

IACET Authorized Providers complete a comprehensive application and undergo a strict evaluation of their educational processes according to the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard. Only IACET Authorized Providers can offer the IACET CEU, the hallmark of quality in continuing education and training. For individual learners, certifying agencies and education providers, IACET CEUs demonstrate that a program has paid attention to such elements as developing clear learning outcomes, assessing learner needs, and conducting thorough evaluation to ensure continuous improvement.
