Continuing Education Units

Purpose of CEUs:

The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) was created to provide a standard unit of measure, to quantify continuing adult education and training activities, and to provide a permanent record of the educational accomplishments of an individual who has completed one or more significant non-credit educational experiences.

CEUs are typically used to supply an employer or prospective employer with information about continuing education and training experiences and to provide documentation to registration boards, certification boards, or professional organizations.

Measuring CEU Credit:

One CEU equals ten contact hours of participation in organized, continuing education experiences under responsible, qualified direction and instruction.
