MRA Survey Reveals Key Trends in Leadership Communication Across Organizations

Waukesha, WI — MRA – The Management Association has released its latest Hot Topic Survey, focusing on Leadership & Communication, revealing how organizations are navigating internal communication strategies in today’s evolving workplace.

The survey highlights that strong organizational communication remains a cornerstone of business success, with over half of participating organizations providing updates or key messages on a monthly or quarterly basis. The top three methods for delivering these updates include:

  • Email
  • Company-wide meetings or town halls
  • Team or department meetings

While most organizations rate their communication efforts as “somewhat effective,” the survey underscores the importance of customizing communication to meet the diverse needs of employee groups. Notably, 30% of organizations tailor their messaging based on factors such as work environment and access to information. For example, remote employees benefit from flexible communication styles, whereas frontline workers often prefer in-person briefings.

“Effective communication is not one-size-fits-all,” said Jim Morgan, Vice President of Workforce Development at MRA. “Organizations that adapt their messaging to suit different employee groups are better positioned to foster alignment, reduce misunderstandings, and drive engagement.”

The findings emphasize the need for clear protocols, established channels, and regular updates to ensure timely and consistent information flow. As organizations continue to evolve, strategic communication planning will be essential to maintaining productivity and morale.
