Strong organizational communication can help support success by ensuring the necessary information is released to employees consistently and promptly. A solid communication plan, whether through established channels, clear protocols, or regular updates, can help align teams and set expectations while reducing the risk of misunderstandings.

Over half of organizations provide updates or key messages monthly or quarterly. The top three most common ways to deliver these updates are through:

  • Email
  • Company-wide meetings or town halls
  • Team or department meetings

The majority of organizations find their communications somewhat effective. While some organizations do not need to customize their communications, 30 percent do customize their communications. Organizations may need to customize their internal communications for different employee groups because each group has unique needs, work environments, and ways they access information. Remote employees may rely on flexible communication styles, while frontline workers may benefit from in-person briefings. Tailoring communication can help ensure that employees receive information in a channel that works best for them, increasing the overall effectiveness of the communication.
