Some organizations believe that a new employee at a manager level or above should already possess the skills they need to work and pick up the culture quickly. But managers and leaders are people too, and have the same needs to assimilate and be part of onboarding just like everyone else.

One way to accelerate the integration of a new leader is to conduct a leader integration or assimilation discussion sessions. This is a process where planned meetings or events take place to help a team learn about its new leader, build trust and respect, and reach a common understanding about his or her expectations and operating/management style. Meetings can take place individually or in a group setting.
