On September 24, 2019, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced its final rule to the overtime regulations under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The new rule, effective January 1, 2020, contains revisions to the regulations that exempt certain workers from minimum wage and overtime pay.

HR should meet with their respective leadership, finance, payroll and benefits teams to alert them of the changes that are now required for some employees’ salaries and how they are classified.
