Minimum Wage Increases Coming July 1, 2023

July 1, 2023, will bring minimum wage increases to several jurisdictions, including Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, and both the City of Chicago and Cook County, Illinois.

Chicago, IL

The rate for employers with 4 to 20 employees will increase from an hourly rate of $14.50 to $15.00. The rate for employers with 21 or more employees is anticipated to increase but has yet to be announced.

Cook County, IL

For those municipalities that did not opt out of the ordinance, minimum wage increases to $13.70 per hour for non-tipped employees and $8.00 for tipped employees.

Minneapolis, MN

The minimum wage for employees with 100 or fewer employees will increase from $13.50 per hour to $14.50 per hour. There is no change for large (100+ employees) employers.

St. Paul, MN

The minimum wage for micro-businesses (1 to 5 employees) increases to $11.50 per hour; for small businesses (6 to 100 employees), the rate increases to $13.00 per hour; for large companies (101 to 10,000 employees), the minimum hourly rate moves to $15.00.
