The position entails senior-level research, design and development of computer software systems, in conjunction with hardware product development. The employee performs project management duties when required. The employee analyzes software requirements to determine feasibility of designs within time and cost constraints. The analyst prepares estimates for project requests and consults with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate the interface between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of the overall system. The worker investigates and resolves computer application issues and manages software. Main contacts are with applications developers and programmers, network analysts and hardware engineers, and systems administrators. The work may include the use of manuals, guidelines or other established procedures containing or relating to highly technical, scientific, legal, financial or other similarly complex matters that can be understood or interpreted only by those with advanced or specialized knowledge or skills.
