Growing up, Tom participated in competitive team sports and continues to find lessons in leadership and teamwork in athletics. He is keenly interested in organization dynamics, in particular the attributes that separate middling organizations from those that thrive. He enjoys working with individuals and organizations to reach their full potential.

Expertise

Tom has held leadership positions in both HR and Operations Management, and has extensive experience in a variety of industries, including information technology, automotive, aerospace, higher education, and banking. He has participated in and led major organizational change initiatives at the department and division level. Tom also has extensive experience with strategic planning, succession planning, and leadership development. He is passionate about fostering a growth culture and takes pride in the success of those he has managed or mentored.

Key Accomplishments

  • Led major hiring initiatives at multiple fast-growing manufacturing facilities
  • Led the implementation of a new organization-wide HR policy manual to support a more progressive employee culture
  • Managed the transformation of a college-supported business incubator that was underutilized and losing money into a thriving, fully self-sustaining enterprise that fostered new business creation
  • Implemented formal board-level succession planning to identify and develop future board leaders

Professional and Community Activities

Tom serves as the Board Chair for a regional financial services firm, with retail locations throughout northwest Wisconsin and the Twin Cities metro area. He is also a member of a Foundation board that invests in capital projects supporting arts, education, and wellness in northwest Wisconsin and eastern Minnesota.
