Minnesota Bans Vaping in Workplaces

A new Minnesota law took effect on August 1, 2019 that bans electronic cigarette use in restaurants, bars and almost all indoor workplaces and public spaces.

This latest amendment to the Minnesota Clean Indoor Air Act means that the use of e-cigarettes and vaping devices fall under the same restrictions as tobacco smoking.

A ban on tobacco smoking in workplaces went into effect back in 2007 so most employers have well-established policies. This expansion to the law will prompt Minnesota employers to review and update their policies, as well as posting new signage.
