July's Session: Recruiting Heroes: A Nontraditional Talent Pool with Unlimited Potential

Presenters:

The word, “veteran,” can invoke many different feelings, especially when it comes to hiring. The veteran talent pool is often overlooked by civilian employers and while there may be reasons you haven’t had the chance to hire a veteran, this session will challenge you to look at who you might be missing out on. Experience on a veteran’s resume may not align directly with the skills you’ve outlined for the position you’re filling, however, if you take the time to have a conversation with a veteran candidate, you may unfold a long list of transferrable skills and strong leadership qualities that would make them a standout member of your team.

August's Session: Intentional Inclusion and Intersectionality

Presenter: Lisa Koenecke

We each own a different set of experiences tied to discrimination and oppression. The intersectionality of these helps to shape who we are and how comfortable we are being our true selves. What we say matters. The work climate and culture should be inclusive. Let’s explore intersectionality from the lens that everyone deserves the right to be their most authentic self at work. How can we show our intentions to shift some inclusionary policies in order to understand intersectionality? Hear stories and examples to discover how you can make a difference. What do our marketing, mission, vision, and values express about our company? Discover resources and tools you can implement for YOUR intentional inclusion and intersectionality.
