In our last edition of Inside HR, we asked organizations if they offer a third party ethics hotline for employees to utilize. Nearly 70% of respondents do not offer this service; however, close to 25% do use this type of service, giving employees online and telephonic options to submit concerns of unethical behavior. The remaining respondents are either considering an ethics hotline, or they already utilize a formal procedure, in-house extension, or referral to a chief legal officer or ombuds office.
