Last Wednesday evening more than 300 HR professionals got together in Minneapolis at Disrupt: The Rebellious Future of HR, presented by MRA.
Disrupt is an information exchange to energize, inform, and empower people in the HR field. Eleven speakers took the stage for five minutes each, with slides rotating every 15 seconds, offering strategic, to-the-point, and timely HR insights.
Some hot topics that got the crowd fired-up that evening included:
- Don’t make the mistake of weeding out applicants that are missing the education you think they need for a position. Be sure to look at work experience, which at times can be more valuable than a degree.
- Freelancers are going to be a much bigger part of the future workforce. Employers should prepare to hire people on a project basis and to maintain fewer on-staff employees.
- Marketing and HR are starting to look rather similar. HR pros are now developing ways to grow employer awareness, to brand their companies as great places to work, and to retain top talent, traditionally tasks for the marketing department.
The evening took place at the super stylish Minneapolis Event Centers - Grand 1858, complete with lots of networking opportunities, catching up with colleagues, and indulging in delicious food and drink.
