As a true bilingual human resource generalist with over ten years of progressive experience, Valerie has worked in a variety of fast-paced, quickly changing industries, including retail and grocery, education, manufacturing, and health care. Valerie’s experience and strengths are recruiting, employee relations, benefit planning, and performance management. She has an extensive background with difficult employee relations issues, balancing recommendations to ensure the best decision is being made for both the employee and the business, while fully understanding the impact those decisions have on a company culture.
- Started two human resource departments with organizations that did not previously have centralized resources.
- Built a department from the ground up implementing processes around recruiting, training, and development to better attract candidates and improve retention in an extremely competitive market while reducing turnover.
- Implemented full-cycle recruiting process ensuring compliance with state and federal laws; built strategy to increase pool of candidates in an extremely challenging high turnover industry by increasing outreach efforts and building creative relationships with schools for future talent needs.
Valerie has a master's degree in Human Resources—Labor Relations Management as well as a bachelor's degree in Hispanic Language and Culture, both from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
