Even the most experienced HR professional can become puzzled and frustrated by the complexity of FMLA regulations and the myriad circumstances in which FMLA may apply. This program reviews those FMLA “gray areas” where it is difficult to determine if the employee should be granted FMLA leave, including intermittent leave. The program also examines the overlap between FMLA and other regulations, such as ADA, Workers’ Compensation and USERRA. In addition, recent developments in FMLA case law and a review of employer rights and obligations will be presented. Using scenarios, this class will provide interactive learning opportunities through discussion.
Upon completion of this training session, participants should be able to:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the current through case study application and scenario review.
- Apply relevant cases and agency opinion letters to arrive at practical solutions involving difficult FMLA situations.
- Identify other employment laws and company policy considerations to take appropriate action.
Who Should Attend:
HR and Benefits professionals with 5+ years of experience and responsibility for FMLA determinations, or HR professionals who wish to expand their knowledge and understanding of FMLA.
A word of caution:
This class assumes a working knowledge of applicable FMLA regulations. Basic FMLA concepts will not be addressed.
