A Fortune 1000 company came to MRA two years ago to help with the implementation of Lean Sigma methods in the office. They had a robust set of improvement methods for manufacturing processes, and wanted to do the same with their office processes. They had a basic idea of what they wanted to accomplish. MRA’s process improvement coach worked with a cross-functional team to create the solution the company is using today. A Steering Committee chooses enterprise-wide projects and teams. The MRA coach worked with an instructional designer to create a self-directed, e-learning course about lean and Six Sigma tools. The course teaches a five-stage process to identify and manage project outcomes. Each team member completes a module of the course just before starting the next stage in their project. A team also meets with the MRA coach at each stage of their project. The coach provides help with how to apply process improvement tools to each stage of the project. Teams manage their own projects and timelines, and report out to senior management several times over the course of their 6-month projects. In two years, MRA has coached almost 100 of this company’s highest performers in the proper use of Lean Sigma methods for office processes.
