FLSA Compliance – Do your exempt positions meet the Duties Test?
Overview: With the proposed new minimum weekly wage for exempt status, and all of the fireworks and press surrounding its implementation, we need to remember that exempt status under the FLSA is not just about a minimum, guaranteed weekly salary. In addition to meeting the minimum weekly earnings, called the "wage test", positions must also pass what is referred to as the "duties test." Overview: Understanding and using the data in your compensation surveys is critical to being a key player in your organization when it comes to making recommendations and decisions related to compensation. What the market is paying for similar jobs, what a reasonable offer is to make to a candidate, and what an organization should budget for salaries all have roots in the data contained in salary surveys. Join us for an overview of compensation philosophy and then an exploration and explanation of salary surveys. How do you decide what surveys to use and what data is important in the salary surveys that your organization purchases every year? What can the numbers tell you when you are asked to provide recommendations from the data scene?
