Lyssa Bernstein - Human Resource Business Partner

Lyssa applies her 12 years of HR knowledge, a practical approach, and excellent communication skills to help advance the “people strategies” of the organizations she assists. Regardless of whether she works with companies for brief or for extended periods of time, they consistently comment that Lyssa exceeds expectations and creates a collaborative, highly efficient work environment.
Lyssa has partnered with organizations to advance recruitment, develop the workforce, transition downsized workers, create training programs, and identify opportunities for better best practice HR knowledge implementation. She has worked in a variety of industries including manufacturing, distribution, nonprofit, healthcare, retail, e-commerce, and service.
Immediately prior to joining MRA, Lyssa was a regional human resources manager with an electronics corporation, driving recruiting, employee relations, training, safety awareness, and benefits administration.
Lyssa’s accomplishments include the development of:
- Developed a streamlined recruiting and hiring process, increasing efficiency and delivering results.
- Implemented a new on-boarding program that enabled new hires to contribute more quickly.
- Created new and updated job descriptions with accuracy and clarity, reinforcing equity across the company.
- Fostered a respectful and trusted atmosphere that encouraged management to seek HR counsel on employee relations, resulting in improved communication and risk mitigation.
Lyssa earned a bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in human relations from the University of Iowa-Iowa City. She also holds a master's degree in teaching from National Louis University, Chicago, Illinois.
Professional and Community Activities
Lyssa is on the board of directors for the Northern Illinois Society for Human Resources in Management (NISHRM) and is a member of the Society for Human Resources in Management (SHRM).
